Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Stark Lab, to be involved in cutting-edge projects to better understand cancer immunology and develop new immunotherapies. To accomplish this, lab projects involve approaches from molecular and synthetic biology, immunology, glycobiology, and biological engineering. Responsibilities will include participating in the design and execution of research projects; analyzing, recording, and organizing data generated from the experiments; and reporting results to research colleagues. Experiments will involve cloning, protein expression and purification, mammalian cell/tissue culture, and flow cytometry. Significant contributions will be appropriately recognized by authorship on subsequent publications. Additional responsibilities include tracking and ordering laboratory supplies and performing general laboratory upkeep and support.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, chemical engineering, or related field; at least two years of relevant lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); experience with one or more of the following technical areas--mammalian tissue culture, standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning and PCR), protein purification, western blotting, flow cytometry, next-generation and/or single-cell sequencing, animal models of disease; working knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures, including safety practices and procedures; excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; self-motivation; and meticulous attention to detail. PREFERRED:  experience in immunology, synthetic biology, or glycobiology; willingness to work with animals; and independent research experience.  Job #23345
