Coverage Area: Norwood, MA Office (Milton, MA on occasion)

Salary: $21 - $23 / hour

Days / Hours: Mon - Fri 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (evenings and weekends as needed- flextime provided)

What You Need to Know

Volunteer Services Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all necessary volunteer records, including up-to-date volunteer lists, availability, volunteer assignments, volunteer time and volunteer personnel records. Participate in volunteer recruitment and conduct volunteer screening interviews
  • In collaboration with the Director-Patient Experience (DPE), develop and coordinate volunteer training classes and ongoing volunteer education and support meetings. Coordinate the activities of volunteers not involved in direct patient care
  • Assist the DPE to creatively develop and implement the volunteer program utilizing community, regional, and national resources. Coordinate Volunteer Recognition activities. Receive information on new admissions; Assign volunteers to team(s) and provide them with the necessary information to support patient needs. Maintain regular contact with Volunteer's assigned to support patients and their families
  • Discuss interactions with patients/families, especially after the first visit. Assess volunteers working relationship with other team members. Keep volunteers informed of any changes in the patient's condition and plan of care. Encourage timely documentation by volunteers for assigned team. Provide additional information and resources to volunteers as needed
  • Attend assigned Interdisciplinary Team meetings and participate in the development and review of the plan of care for patients and families. Support the bereavement program at the program site, including, but not limited to: Training volunteers to complete bereavement calls and visits to offer counseling and support, facilitate bereavement support groups in the community, including an annual memorial service, Participate in monthly bereavement committee meetings, Keep the bereavement binder up to date (with meeting minutes, sign-in sheets from groups/workshops, etc.)

Qualifications

Volunteer Services Coordinator Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, preferred
  • 2+ years professional experience as a volunteer in a healthcare, human services or similar agency; 2+ years' experience in a healthcare setting, hospice, preferred
  • Ability to coordinate, supervise and evaluate volunteer services; Ability to organize, educate and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs
  • Must have reliable automobile, valid driver's license and the minimum state required liability auto insurance
