Supervisor, Training & Staff Development - Sterile Processing

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Supervisor of Training & Staff Development, Central Sterile Processing & Supply (CSPS), reports to the Training & Staff Development Manager. This role oversees daily training activities to support CSPS functions within hospital policies. Responsibilities include supervising training staff, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining patient safety through infection control. Collaboration with all CSPS role groups is essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to Staff Development Coordinators.
  • Ensure compliance with work instructions, regulatory requirements, and policies.
  • Assist with inventories, stock rotation, and removal of expired items.
  • Provide operational support to Peri-Operative Team and serve as liaison between departments.
  • Maintain proper documentation and proficiency in CSPS functions.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Support the department's training and staff development program.
Qualifications

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong work ethic and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION:

Minimum Required:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Some college or Associate's Degree

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 3 years of progressive Sterile Processing experience in a peri-operative setting.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Lead SPD Technician, Surgical Scrub Tech, or prior Supervisory experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Directly responsible for up to 10 assigned employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Involves significant time walking, standing, and moving materials.
  • Exposure to the Operating Room environment.
  • Strict dress code including wearing surgical scrubs.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
