Position Purpose:

Under limited direction directs, supports, and services assigned organizations requiring the processing and disposition of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. Acts in a professional and courteous manor, meeting all customers' needs in regards to waste packaging, segregating, transporting, profil-ing, training and addressing other customer needs.

Key Job Activities:
  • Oversees and conducts various activities in a hazardous/non hazardous waste environment including but not limited to: container inspections, labeling of containers, preparing and packaging hazardous waste lab packs, sorting hazardous waste while complying to federal, state, and local rules and regulations, also consulting with the organization's staff for best practices.
  • Responsible for manifest reconciliation, tracking, billing and invoicing customers. Manifest and coordinate the transport of waste safely and according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Schedule waste services remotely for national accounts with sub-contractors.
  • Discuss additional company services with current customers. Assess service needs, rollout of program to new sites or new APHIS and hazardous markets.
  • Acts as liaison in resolving issues/concerns for clients including, but not limited to, request for extra pick-ups, request for change in pick-ups, and request for containers.
  • Responsible for conducting market research on vendors and pricing on competitors. The market research is to determine margin value when bidding APHIS or hazardous contracts nationally. This could include sourcing supplies or sub-contractors to accommodate customer needs.
  • Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks. Performs weekly inspections and maintains inspection records.
  • May facilitate site visits and meetings from regulatory agencies and industry professionals. Promote staff training and documentation/record keeping of program implementation.
  • Coordinate the identification, segregation, and packaging of chemicals according to DOT & EPA guidelines.
Experience:
  • Education equivalent College Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or other related field preferred, along with two or more years of experience, preferably in the waste manage-ment/pharmaceutical/environmental industry, demonstrating sound knowledge in working with chemi-cals/chemical lab packing.
  • In the absence of a degree, the equivalent in related work experience would include five or more years of experience, preferably in the waste management/pharmaceutical/environmental industry, demon-strating sound knowledge in working with chemicals/chemical lab packing.
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of Environmental/Regulatory rules and requirements includ-ing RCRA, DOT, DEA, OSHA a plus.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the segregation, disposition, and transportation or multiple waste streams.
  • Possession of TWIC (security) card and 40-hour HAZWOPER required. Possession of CHMM, Advanced DOT, and HAZCOM certification(s) a plus.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, gaining a thorough understanding of the project assigned, and ensure that the project is completed on time and per specifications, in a fast past environment.
  • Maintain high-end relationships with client(s) with positive, professional leadership skills a must.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage account(s) on a daily basis, as assigned.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of various computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicle.
