Job Title: Director of Residential Services
Location: Pembroke, MA
Salary: Starting $80,000
Summary of Position:
The Director of Residential Services is responsible for the supervision and programmatic operations of New England Village's Residential Services. The Director is responsible for providing oversight and managing residential operations including evaluating and continuously improving services and supports, development of Residential Services staff, and for other similar duties necessary to the functions of Residential Services in adherence with all New England Village, external agencies, state and local policies, regulations, and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
This position will serve as the representative and operation leader for New England Village's Residential Services program, responsibilities of this role include:
Operational and Regulatory Program Oversight
  • Ensure overall quality of program services with emphasis on individual growth, health, and safety.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with all NEV, federal, state, and funding agencies policies including timely notifications, documentation, and communication with funding sources and partnering agencies.
  • Ensures timely notifications and completion of all incident reporting and documentation to funding sources and regulatory agencies.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Director of Health Services to ensure the overall health and well-being of individuals, ensuring programs are in compliance with all related health and safety standards.
  • Ensure program staffing requirements are consistently maintained in accordance with funding source standards.
  • Provide input into operating and capital budgets. Ensure ongoing monitoring and oversight of residential program budgets and overtime use.
  • Conduct routine visits to all residential programs. Observe and evaluate the efficacy of residential services, assist in the identification of program needs and improvements while working to address them as appropriate.
  • Ensure the oversight of vehicles and physical plant maintenance of all homes to include cleanliness, decor, safety issues, emergency situations, and preventative maintenance. Ensure all work orders are submitted and responded to appropriately. Assist in planning of facility repair, refurbishing and improvement projects. Adhere to policy and procedures on the use and maintenance of NEV vehicles.
  • Coordinate the assessment process for new referrals. Direct the intake process in accordance with NEV procedures for new admissions.
  • Foster and maintain professional partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders through proactive communication, including the dissemination of pertinent information.
Staff Oversight and Training
  • Lead, direct and track performance management to ensure that direct reports are developing and applying fair standards consistent with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight and expertise to all residential staff to ensure that all are promoting the rights and dignity of individuals served throughout service delivery, by encouraging individual autonomy and choice in delivery of programming supports and services.
  • Coordinate and maintain a comprehensive on the job training for new staff. Ensure compliance with mandated and recommended trainings of all staff.
  • Work closely with Human Resources on maintaining an on-going comprehensive recruiting program and effective staff selection process. Establish objectives, monitor, motivate and evaluate individual performance as to NEV and Residential Services policies and procedures and take corrective actions as necessary, working with and making effective recommendations to supervisor and Human Resources as appropriate, to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to and objectives are achieved.
  • Utilized NEV's electronic systems for recruitment, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Conducts and documents team meetings and supervision meetings with direct reports (i.e. Assistant Residential Directors and Program Managers) in accordance with expected schedules. Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures related to the ongoing supervision, training, and professional development of staff.
  • Ensures direct reports are prepared for meetings, complete rationale and justification for recommendations including but not limited to ratio of staffing, and complete relevant reports as required.
  • Ensures direct reports adhere to operational standards set forth by the organization, including but not limited to crisis management procedures, Incident Reporting, policies and procedures, staffing, and clinical standards.
  • Conducts follow-up, fact-finding, and internal investigations in collaboration with human resources and other senior leaders, when necessary, on incidents/injuries, allegations, concerns, and complaints. Ensures both Administrative Reviews and DPPC corrective action plans are completed in a timely manner, written objectively, and submitted to internal and external parties.
Leadership and Professionalism
  • Responsible for ensuring that periodic and special reports are prepared and submitted as scheduled and that records and documents are maintained. Prepare executive summary of operations for CEO, AVP and Board as required.
  • Participate in the marketing of NEV such as submitting news items for village's newsletter; assist in preparation of marketing materials, etc.
  • Effectively participate as a member of New England Village's senior leadership team. Serve on various committees including area and regional committees.

Effectively promotes a working environment that encourages similar behavior from others through operational and staff management.   • Perform other similar duties as responsibilities necessitate or as requested by supervisor.
Reporting Relationship:
  • Reports to the AVP of Programs
Knowledge, Experience, Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred, but experience may substitute for education.
  • In lieu of Bachelors Degree, a minimum of 7 years of progressive supervisory experience in Human Services required.
  • Proven experience in a managerial position. Excellent leadership skills - ability to motivate and inspire team.
  • On-Call responsibilities and schedule flexibility is required for this position.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and other related MS Office applications. Competent and comfortable with learning new computer systems, programs, and applications.
  • Business acumen with strong time management, organizational, and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, high-priority tasks and objectives concurrently.
  • Must have a current, valid, and in good standing, MA drivers' license. Must have reliable form of transportation.
  • CPR, First Aid and MAP certification preferred. If hired without certifications, must become certified within 4 months of hire. Must maintain certifications during employment.
  • Ability to practice effective conflict-resolution skills and build constructive working relationships characterized by high levels of acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Work with confidential data such as individual case records which if disclosed inadvertently could have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
  • Experience in Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) and ABA strategies preferred.
