Summary:

Eligibility:

Non-exempt non-supervisory employees (employees paid on an hourly basis) who commit to a flex schedule of 48 hours per week.

Hourly rate for this position is $28.00 an hour plus shift differential.


Guidelines: Float Pool Flex NAs will be scheduled 48 hours per week. Scheduled hours may be flexed down up to 12 hours per week based on hospital need.

The Float Pool Flex NA assigned to the Float Pool reports directly to the Clinical Manager of the Float Pool and is considered a float pool nursing assistant. The Float Pool Flex NA will be given a unit assignment by the staffing office or Nursing Supervisor prior to each shift. Temporary unit assignments may be requested to fill vacancies LOAs etc. The Float Pool Flex NA works their assigned weekend and every other holiday.

The Float Pool Flex NA will follow the same holiday requirements as regular staff nurses.

Retirement Program-Eligible

Flex Time Off: Float Pool Flex NA hours may be flexed down by the staffing office and/or the Nursing Supervisor to adequately staff the hospital. Float Pool Flex NA hours will not be flexed down more than 12 hours for the week unless voluntary time off is offered.

Voluntary Time Off: Voluntary Time Off defined as time off offered due to decrease in hospital census may be taken in rotation without pay.

Scheduled Unpaid Time Off:

Requests for time off must be followed as outlined in Staffing/Scheduling Policy # 0101 and Holiday Policy HR 2.10

Float Pool Flex NAs are eligible to take 192 hours off per year after 90 days of employment. Hours flexed down will not be deducted from the 192 hours allowed for requested time off.

Other information:

Requirements:

* Current Rhode Island License as a Nursing Assistant. High school graduate or its equivalent.

* Ability to perform basic computer skills.

* Certified in American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

* One year experience as a Nursing Assistant required.

The Float Pool Flex Nursing Assistant program will be re-evaluated by Newport Hospital leadership in annually to determine if it should be discontinued extended or changed.
