The Eliot-Pearson Children's School is the laboratory-demonstration school affiliated with the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University. The school serves as a model and demonstration facility, providing a training and observation site for new and experienced teachers and a research facility for faculty and supervised students in the Department of Child Study and Human Development. The Children's School enrolls approximately 68 children. It has preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten, to first grade classes that vary in length and frequency.
The Head Teacher's responsibilities include providing a dynamic, developmental, and inclusive program for preschool age children (3-4 years), curriculum planning, instruction, documentation and assessment of children. This position will also work with families, therapists, team-teaching and supervising University undergraduate and graduate students.
The Head Teacher may also work as the summer program head teacher, or counselor. The summer program counselor is responsible to lead and manage the classroom including curriculum design, recreational projects preparation and implementation, oversight of the classroom environment, staff supervision, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children and families.
