Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Ensure and monitor general safety and structure of the shelter as they pertain to shelter rules and policies.
  • Do routine rounds of the facility and monitor any safety concerns. Monitor any situations between residents at the shelter and be able to practice de-escalation and conflict resolution amongst residents.
  • Be able to conduct appropriate outreach to any safety resources and emergency services. Additionally, ensure general safety of the residents by ensuring the building structure is properly cared for and maintained.
  • Complete circuits of the property every 30 minutes for each shift.
  • Observe and record any potential safety concerns regarding the building, procedures, and/or individuals (residents and guests) at the shelter.
  • Exercise the ability to de-escalate conflict between clients and perform any crisis intervention that may cause a concern for safety or one or multiple individuals.
  • Respond to resident concerns regarding conflicts/behaviors amongst residents (provide concern form if needed).
  • Record all incidents on a typed incident form as required.
  • Attend quarterly staff meetings.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Handle all client information confidentially and with respect.
  • Any duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Peer Certification encouraged but not required..
  • Bilingualism/multilingualism individuals encouraged to apply.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalency. Experience in related field preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to climb stairs; valid drivers' license.
