Title: Pharmacy Technician Team Lead

Summary: Seeking a Pharmacy Technician Team Lead for a full-time position with benefits. Ideal schedule: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, within operation hours of 6:00 AM - 9:30 PM. Sign-On Bonus available.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician Team Lead supervises the day-to-day activities of Certified Pharmacy Technicians and Interns/Co-ops. Responsibilities include quality assurance activities, such as controlled substance auditing, clinic inspections, technician scheduling, and coverage arrangements for absences. The role focuses on establishing efficient workflows and continuous quality improvement strategies. Collaborating closely with pharmacy management, this role promotes technician engagement, development, and cost containment strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trains new pharmacy technicians, interns, and co-op students.
  • Manages pharmacy technician schedules and approves time off requests.
  • Conducts staff reviews, corrective actions, and acts as a liaison between pharmacy and nursing leadership.
  • Leads the development and enhancement of technician workflows and conducts outpatient clinic inspections.
  • Ensures compliance with medication management standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees pharmacy technician metrics, conducts quality improvement measures, and maintains staff competency.
  • Participates in pharmacy and institutional committees, supports pharmacy project management, and manages the pharmaceutical sample program.
  • Provides outstanding customer service, implements service recovery, and performs job functions of a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of inpatient pharmacy technician experience
  • Prior management or supervisory experience is preferred
  • Registered Pharmacist Technician in Massachusetts
  • PTCB certification

Organizational Requirements:

  • Demonstrates understanding of inpatient pharmacy practice
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Serves as an institutional role model for technician advancement
  • Demonstrates regulatory compliance and performance improvement

Working Conditions:

  • Works in the Pharmacy Department and patient care areas
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases and sensitive medications
  • Manages multiple tasks under time constraints

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, and handle non-motorized equipment

Fine manipulation and reading reports regularly

Please note: Candidates should comply with State and Federal pharmacy practice regulations, maintain proper charging and crediting of medications, and complete annual regulatory compliance training.
