Job Summary: The Safety Officer promotes leadership and helps supports the Bay Cove mission and addresses community concerns in a proactive and professional manner. Welcomes clients, staff and guests to the by providing a positive, professional and respectful presence at all times. Serves as a community diplomat and represents the Cardinal Medeiros Center (CMC) as a good neighbor and responsive community partner.

This is a non-exempt position

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Maintains the entrance and parking lot of the Cardinal Medeiros Center (CMC) as well as stairways and hallways to ensure it remains clear of people who are loitering or disruptive, ensuring a calm environment on the sidewalk and within the street, and providing ample room for pedestrians to pass.
  • Enforces the rules established in the policy and procedures for the safety of each person the CMC community.
  • Intervenes in crisis situations using good judgement, communication skills, de-escalation techniques, and calling upon emergency services as needed
  • Demonstrates dependability and reliability.
  • Must be able to work all shifts including weekend and Holidays as scheduled.
  • Attend required training
  • Communicates in real-time with Program Director of the CMC, and internal staff at the CMC.
  • Ensures that CMC guests are respectfully, safely and efficiently facilitated access to the entrance of the CMC to be searched with safety wand before they are allowed to check in, and bags are tagged.
  • Assist CMC staff when called upon.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
