Waters Global Research is looking for an energetic and creative scientist to join the research team at Immerse Cambridge to help bring our analytical and bioanalytical science to a new level. This is a unique position that features main duties in Cambridge, MA, and some duties in Milford, MA offices, providing an opportunity to work with our research teams out of both offices and to collaborate with prominent researchers in the Cambridge area. The Global Research team is looking for an early career individual to help change the way we think about problems, inspire new ideas, and contribute to the next generation of innovations across mass spectrometry, chromatography and sample preparation. This current role focuses on conducting interdisciplinary research using our most advanced mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography instruments and automation in various settings and applications.

The Waters Global Research team performs early, cutting-edge research on novel separation technologies and closed automation systems that are used in measurements of the life, food, and materials sciences industries. We are committed to understanding customer needs and pivoting these insights into new and exciting technologies to address those needs. Our team is a cross-functional research segment in the fields of Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Clinical, Chemistry and Informatics and is dedicated to explore technologies and develop novel system solutions for the critical problems of the life sciences. Responsibilities
    Conduct research activities for moderately complex problems within the Global Research Team using multiple instrumentation including LC-MS.
  • Implement own research activities within Waters Research
  • Execute systematic test measurements with prototypes and available instrumentation
  • Be responsible for the daily use of instruments in our Immerse laboratory
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, drawing conclusions based on strong data analysis, contribute to patent applications, and provide internal and external presentations to summarize scientific findings
  • Provide technical support, share development ideas, contribute to our global research portfolio and assist effective research planning
  • Provide technical support to external collaborators where applicable
  • Stay up-to-date in scientific literature for specific area of specialization
  • Establish procedures and work effectively with cross-functional project teams including scientists, biologists, and engineers
  • Perform other duties in a professional manner as deemed necessary by the organization
Qualifications
  • M.S. in Chemistry/Biology/Engineering or related discipline with 2 or more years experience, or B.S. with 4 or more years experience required
  • Recent Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biology or related discipline desired
  • 2 or more years of practical experience in analytical chemistry or related discipline
  • Innovative mindset and agility to foster new and diverse ideas
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good communication, analysis and decision skills
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English
  • Hands on experience in either MS or LC instrumentation use/maintenance
  • Experience in high resolution mass spectrometry is desirable
  • Experience in the fields of automation and/or high throughput technologies is desirable
  • Interest in analytical data analysis
  • Interest on a broad range of analytical techniques
