We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Sr. Director of Process Development located in Billerica, MA. In this critical role, this individual will lead process scientists and engineers to drive the full cycle of the development and deployment of our reagent supply and manufacturing processes, from the lab bench through to production scale. You will provide technical leadership over design of experiments, drive innovations, and on-board new technologies to continuously advance process characterization and scale up methodology. You will identify technical requirements in our products, define appropriate operations strategies, and work with internal and external stakeholders to enable a sustainable reagent operations process.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop reagent processes and collaborate with R&D on reagent product development.
  • Establish important business processes to enable Reagent Operations including defining requirements and documenting process
  • Continually assess and on-board new technologies to accelerate delivery of new products in a reliable and sustainable manner.
  • Deploy analytical test systems in collaboration with R&D, Assay Development, and Quality to characterize and qualify reagent material stream
  • Implement reagent product manufacturing processes, including formulation, filling/finishing, and packaging processes.
  • Drive early development of supply chain relationships with respect to new reagent product development
  • Continuously improve the reagent manufacturing including supplier technical support, process development and implementation. Includes working with suppliers on consumables.
  • Lead development of dashboards to track and trend the metrics. Report metrics to technical teams and upper management. Facilitate root cause analysis and ideation of the improvement opportunities from the metric discussions.
  • Responsible for establishing the budget and CAPEX for process development department.
  • Develop and train team on best practices in process development, design of experiments (DOE), and test method development
  • Build and develop a high-performing process science and engineering team ensuring the right skills are added at the appropriate time during periods of rapid growth.
  • Inspire, grow, retain and engage employees using people centric leadership tools.

What We'll Expect From You:

  • Candidates should have a mix of demonstrated technical expertise as well as management experience, with overall experience such as:
  • BS / BA in molecular biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, or engineering. 15+ years' experience in product and process development, including leadership responsibility in chemistry/reagent product development. Experience in biotech/genomics/diagnostics preferred.
  • MS in chemistry/biology technology disciplines as above, with 10+ years experience.
  • PhD in chemistry/biology technology disciplines as above, with 8+ years experience.
  • The ideal candidate has both small/large-scale project/process experience and manufacturing operations experience.
  • Significant experience in product and process development, including leadership responsibility in chemistry/reagent product development. Experience in biotech/genomics/diagnostics is ideal.
