Job Summary

The Product Applications Engineer will support a new suite of Pharmacy supporting applications for McKesson's pharmacy business. Applications consist of a mix of vendor-supported applications as well as cloud-based applications developed by McKesson staff (e.g., Mulesoft/API integration, customer/provider/patient web portals, etc.). Additional applications will be supported as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the company's computing platforms.

  • Provide technical assistance that supports the implementation and maintenance of business systems.

  • Keep systems operating efficiently by performing any necessary upgrades.

  • Answer technical queries and assist users.

  • Implement necessary monitoring and perform maintenance to ensure desired application availability.

  • Perform problem-solving tasks when alerted by a user or monitoring system.

  • Coordinate/perform software deployments in adherence to processes and procedures for quality software service delivery.

  • Administer change control procedures to ensure that only properly reviewed and authorized changes are released across computing environments.

  • Communicate and coordinate with business stakeholders regarding computing environment maintenance windows, deployment readiness checkpoints, deployment validation and signoff, application shakeouts, etc.

  • Maintain system configuration documentation.

  • Support DevOps / CICD

  • Implement and support job automation.

  • Backfill production support

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Experience coordinating with development teams and Product Owners

  • Basic Server configuration knowledge

  • Basic networking knowledge and ability to perform basic network troubleshooting

  • Able to configure applications on web servers such as IIS

  • General experience with Azure

  • Experience working with databases, preferably SQL Server, writing stored procedures, writing complex queries for data, understanding of principles of relational database design (foreign Keys, indexes, etc).

  • Experience working with data (e.g., data analysis, reports, etc.). Should have an understanding of how data is stored and can be retrieved and combined.

  • 2+ years of experience working in a software application production support role. Ability to diagnose issues, perform root cause analysis, etc.

  • Exposure to application development concepts is a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience as a self-starter, motivated, and with an ability to determine solutions and solve problems independently.

  • Experience with Excel to analyze data and maintain reference information.

  • Understanding of flat files/text files and XML, how to view and edit files.

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, Firewalls and SFTP file transfer.

  • Experience managing and interacting with vendor support groups and corporate user stakeholders.

Nice To Have

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Go Anywhere job automation experience is a plus.

  • Experience in a software and release management role:

  • Experience with software deployment on Windows / Linux platforms

  • Experience managing release packages

  • Oversight of Deployment Activity

  • CAB meetings / Change request process

  • Preparing for deployments

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$91,700 - $152,800
