Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Environmental Services Manager.

Performs a variety of project cleaning duties including buffingstrippingand refinishing of floor surfaces shampooing of carpets and other cleaning duties to maintain an assigned area of the hospital or its related buildings in a sanitary and orderly condition.

Additionally performs general maintenance duties including demolition moving furniture and equipment electrical wall repairs ceiling tile installation and other duties required to complete room maintenance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


High school graduate or equivalent level of education preferred.

Knowledge of general renovation and repair work.

Ability to read and understand operating instructions and manuals.

Effective interpersonal communication skills. Read writelegiblyand speak English.

Experience as Environmental Services Aide II with proceduresequipmentand products.

Familiar with trade equipment of carpenters electricians plumbers plasterers and other trade skills.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares site for skilled trades people including demolitionremovaland cleanup of site moving equipment files furnishings and materials.

Replace and repair blinds curtain rods ceiling tilesplasterand paint walls.

Perform clean up duties on work sites; replace light bulbs patient call cords move materials furniture and equipment free clogged toilets and sinks paint and perform a variety of other duties as required by work order or direct assignment.

Perform duties assigned through the Work Order System and track time required to perform jobs for quality and productivity tracking.

Adheres to hospital/department policies procedures objectives quality assurance safety environmental and infection control.

Scrubs/strips floors to remove all soil and finish/wax to base of floor refinishes/recoatsfloorsand buffs to a glossy appearance. Operates power equipment shampoos carpets and removes spots from carpets. Checks power equipment transports to assigned work area performs daily cleaning and supplying of the area as defined on the floor schedule in accordance with established departmental procedures prescribedmethodsand standards. Operates UV-Light in accordance with department policies; sets up meeting and conference rooms.

Performs routine and terminal cleaning of procedural areas including Operating Rooms and Cath Lab according to cleaning standards as recommended by AORN Infection Control and Unit/Departmental Leadership.

Prepares cleaning solutions as required. Cleans elevatorsrestroomsand all fixtures; cleans vents lights aluminum washes ceilings and walls vacuums rugs and carpets Hangs/change drapes and cubicle curtains transports trash and compacts according to established hospital procedures.

Performs duties assigned in accordance with hospital procedures during fire or internal/community disaster.

Performs runner tasks including transports dirty laundry supplies furniture and equipment asneeded

Maintains surplus storage areas and equipment rooms in a cleanorderlyand safe condition. Reports any necessary repairs needs to supervisor.

Performs duties of ESD Aide and ESD II as required and/or as directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
