This one year internship is located in Brighton, MA. In office Monday-Friday (40 full time hours per week). Start date: June 2024.

JOB MISSION:
The New Balance Sports Research Team is a multidisciplinary group of innovators focused on pushing the boundaries of human performance through scientific exploration. We deliver authentic, performance focused insights to New Balance teams with the goal of creating best in class products and experiences. We utilize our state of the art 17,000 sq. foot research space, consisting of running tracks, turf surfaces, court surfaces, body scanners, environmental chamber, high speed force treadmills, and much more to answer tomorrow's groundbreaking performance questions.


We are seeking a research intern to work alongside our senior scientists while gaining valuable and applicable experience in the sporting goods industry. As a research intern you will be focused on, collecting and analyzing human performance (biomechanical, physiological, perception) data in addition to testing footwear mechanical properties while experiencing New Balance's innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct human research (biomechanical, physiological, and perceptual performance data).
  • Conduct mechanical and biophysical testing of footwear and apparel materials.
  • Collect, process, analyze, summarize, interpret, report, and present data.
  • Communicate insights to scientists and other business partners without a scientific background.
  • Drive product consistency by documenting research and testing results at all levels of the innovation process.
  • Contribute to our innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Biomechanics, Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a biomechanics, physiological, or mechanical engineering lab environment with human participants preferred.
  • Footwear enthusiasts preferred.
  • Strong communication and computer skills required; MatLab and statistical experience a plus

Flexible Work Schedule
