Overview

Waters Corporation is currently seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Technician (Second Shift) to join our Taunton Operations Team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our Controls & Automation team and be involved in projects with a variety of instrumentation and technology needs. The I&C technician will support our new innovative manufacturing facility through DCS troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance. In addition, they will play a key role in the testing, calibration, and qualification of our process control system.

The ideal candidate must have a diverse technical skills with the ability to work independently. The Technician will act as technical expert on the instrumentation aspects, control system, and control network devices. The ideal candidate will be able to thrive in a very fast paced & dynamic manufacturing environment.

This position is on 2nd Shift (3 PM to 11:30 PM)

Responsibilities
    Provide troubleshooting and calibration services for all process and analytic instrumentation and control system equipment in the plant DCS to minimize downtime and loss of production; provide after-hours technical support to 2nd and 3rd shifts including weekends as vital.
  • Control system wiring installation and troubleshooting, including the following communication protocols: Ethernet, ASI, and Profibus PA.
  • Instrumentation installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Instrumentation configuration and installation with knowledge of Class I, Div. I & II explosion proof and intrinsically safe requirements.
  • Perform loop checks, continuity tests, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, start-up support, and performance tests for process control systems.
  • Build positive relationships with Operations, Technical Support, and Facilities to deliver standardized processes.
  • Follow procedures to accurately calibrate and document calibration using the Beamex Calibration Management System
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and contractors on projects.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School/Technical School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting/configuring Allen Bradley PLCs, VFD, and Motor starters.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting controls and instrumentation in a cGMP, ISO 9001:2015 certified, manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with computer set-up and software configuration for process control consoles under MS Windows operating systems and system integrations involving DCS.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams required.

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience working with the instrumentation and controls.
  • Engineering technology degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Computer Science or other related field.
  • Produce and/or edit wire diagrams/schematic drawings with AutoCAD.
  • Experience programming and configuring the following: Allen-Bradley PLCs, Rockwell Software HMI/SCADA PLCs, Wonderware InBatch, Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware Historian, and DeltaV
  • Specific experience with Endress Hauser Pressure, Level, Temperature and Flow meters, Brooks Flowmeters, Hardy and Mettler-Toledo scales, AVCO, Flowtek, Samson, Bray Valves with Stonel Valve toppers, Mettler-Toledo pH/TOC/ Conductivity/Resistivity
