Summary of Position | Keene State College invites applications for a Public Health and Safety Laboratory Technician to work cooperatively with faculty and staff to prepare and setup laboratory experiences for Public Health, Safety, and other departments in the school as needed. This is a 75%-time benefited position, 37.5 hours/week, with appointment dates that run concurrently with the academic year (August to May). |

Duty/Responsibility | Setup and run teaching labs for the Safety and Public Health departments. The main aspects of lab setup include preparing bacteria cultures, chemical solutions, pouring plates and gathering glassware and other materials needed for each lab. When labs are complete, the lab is cleaned up, which includes proper disposal of chemicals and biological waste. Assist lab classes in other departments of the school as assigned by supervisor. |

Duty/Responsibility | Assist and engage with students during lab sessions, as well as supervise and train student workers in the lab setting. Other responsibilities include monitoring students during makeup labs, providing access to the lab for student use outside of class and proctoring quizzes and exams when necessary. |

Duty/Responsibility | Maintain an updated inventory list and order materials as needed for the Safety and Public Health departments. This entails weekly inventory checks in the laboratory, and updating the inventory in Excel. Create and update setup sheets for each lab, and create orders for supplies needed to run the teaching labs. Maintain, clean and calibrate laboratory equipment such as scales, microscopes, autoclave and Millipore system. |
