Program Overview:

At Werfen, our people are our most important asset. Our Professional Development Program (PDP) targets talented and ambitious developing professionals with high learning potential, strong personal values and ethics, and a passion for continuous learning. Designed to provide a unique, accelerated rotational experience, the program provides participants with an in-depth understanding of who we are and what we do here at Werfen that drives our passion for patient care.

The two-year program is broken down into four, six-month rotations across select departments and project teams. Your rotational assignments will be customized to support your development and provide you with the knowledge and experience to support a successful and rewarding career with Werfen.

Throughout your program experience, there will be regular discussions with your manager and the Program Lead to help identify options for career paths within Werfen. Unique networking opportunities, exposure to senior leadership and individual career coaching are available to all program participants.

Responsibilities

Position Description:

The R&D Reagents PDP employee will be responsible for using their skills and knowledge in scientific space to contribute to key company projects and assignments throughout their rotational experiences. This may include laboratory work requiring application of professional judgment, project work on key product innovations, and working with personnel in other R&D groups and other departments to improve analytical performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Applies scientific method and experimental design in problem solving on assigned projects. Uses scientific expertise to provide solutions to a broad range of difficult problems in the areas of assay development and system integration.
  • Performs complicated or demanding assignments requiring specialized knowledge. May offer solutions that are creative and/or inventive.
  • Defines short and mid-term objectives and implements plan to accomplish objectives.
  • Handles broad assignments and objectives under minimal supervision. Accomplishes short-term objectives.

  • Strong functional and technical skills.
  • Ability to manage and measure work.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Duties require broad use and application of scientific principles, theories, and concepts in field of expertise.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

Individuals interested in applying for the Professional Development Program should meet the following criteria:

Education: Master's degree in Scientific or Engineering discipline required. PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,Biomedical Engineering or Biotechnology fields preferred.

Experience: 0-4 years of professional work experience in developing enabling technologies for medical devices or assay devlopment.
